David Glass has become affiliated with Applied PhytoGenetics, Inc.
Applied PhytoGenetics (APGEN) is a new phytoremediation company based
on the technologies of Drs. Laura Carreira and Richard Meagher. The
company is currently conducting commercial phytoremediation projects in
which specially selected naturally occurring plant and tree species are
being used to remediate organic contaminants in soils and groundwater.
These projects utilize technologies developed by Dr. Carreira. APGEN is
also developing genetically modified plants for remediation of heavy
metals such as mercury, based on Dr. Meagher’s research in his
laboratory at the University of Georgia.
APGEN is based in Athens, Georgia. Dr. Glass has been brought on board
to spearhead the efforts to raise APGEN’s initial round of
